These fey people, kin to elves but more otherworldly, live mainly in and around the mountains of Auras, and their gleaming cities exist both in The World and in the Feywild. They rejoice in beauty and magic, art and nature. The nobles of the High Elves can live extraordinarily long lives, as Queen Avoras and Prince Kelvoras have ruled their people since the Younger days of the world. Accustomed to the enchanted lands of the Feywild, High Elves refer to the Middle Kingdom (the ordinary, visible world) most often as the Fadelands.
Although most of them live within the bounds of the nation of Auras (which extends to both the Feywild and the Fadelands), hidden settlements can be found in far off places where the Feywild overlays the Middle Kingdom. Such settlements are often accessible from the Fadelands only at a certain time, sometimes for as little as a few minutes each day, and they are usually found only at places of great natural beauty. The border between Auras and the Elf nation Telaras are fluid, easily identifiable to the Eldar, but baffling to other races.
Since the end of the Elder Dayswhen the High Elves lost many things that were dear, and even more since the end of the Shatterwar when they lost Kelvoras their King, they have withdrawn from most affairs of the Fadelands, but in recent years they have found both threats and hopes that have driven them to become more active once again. The Queen sees great potential in negotiating with the ‘rebel’ kua-toan nation, the Illud, but is very cautious. Many High Elves are scouting and spying on the Illud and their dealings, attempting to decipher their true intentions.
